Meet Wilson! Wilson is a four-year-old sweetie with a big heart and an even bigger love for his people. His perfect day includes chasing a ball around the backyard, going for a walk, and curling up beside you on the couch for a cozy cuddle session. Wilson came to Beagles and Bentleys from the Lincoln County, NC animal shelter after he was seized from his previous owner. Wilson is both crate trained and house trained, and he's a polite boy who knows to sit patiently before getting a treat. He's doing well on leash and is learning to walk even more comfortably with his front-attach harness that reminds him not to pull. He doesn't guard his food or toys, and he's always happy to accept a reward - especially if it's sweet potatoes, blueberries, or chicken-free dog treats. He's also been a star at the groomer, calmly handling nail trims. Wilson will be working with a trainer to help him continue building confidence and set both him and his future family/adopter up for success. Wilson has done well interacting with other dogs on walks and through fences, but we are working on his interactions with other dogs in an enclosed space or yard. Wilson is looking for an experienced adopter who understands that, like many dogs who've had a difficult past, he has a few triggers that need thoughtful management. Because of this, he'll do best as the only dog in a home without young children. In return, you'll gain an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion who loves deeply and forms wonderful bonds with his trusted humans. He is an absolute angel with all humans, and most dogs. Wilson is being fostered in Richmond, VA and is up to date on vaccinations, has been dewormed, and is on monthly preventatives. He has been neutered and microchipped. His adoption fee is $375. We require that all adopters, regardless of the dogs age, are committed to ongoing training and socialization as part of responsible ownership.
