Kona is a delightful senior dog who has recently found herself in need of a new home after her elderly owner entered hospice care. This 9-10 year old German Shepherd has blossomed in her current environment, showing a playful spirit while interacting with a mix of 10 other dogs, ranging from a few months old to 16 years. It’s heartwarming to see how much younger she acts now, easily navigating stairs with a newfound energy. Kona enjoys attention and can get a bit jealous if other pets are receiving it, but she expresses this with playful nudges rather than aggression. Her curiosity has led her to get nose-to-nose with the resident cats, and she's shown no inclination to be anything but gentle with them. A loving home, preferably with at least one other dog who enjoys playtime, would be ideal for her to thrive. Fully house trained, she hasn't had any accidents in the last two months and is remarkably non-aggressive, even during meal times. She hasn't been tested with kids, but based on her nature, she would likely fit right in. Kona is looking for a compassionate family to share her golden years with.
