AvailableTaffy is a sweet senior female mixed-breed dog, approximately 12 years old and weighing around 10 lbs. She has an apricot and beige medium coat and is spayed. Taffy is vaccinated but not fully house trained yet. Currently fostered in Rockville, MD, she is very affectionate and gets along well with other pets.
About Taffy
Taffy was found abandoned on a rural back road, tangled in painful mats that covered her eyes. Understandably wary of abandonment, she seeks a home where people are around often. She walks reasonably well on a leash, enjoys sniffing in the yard, and has been staying with other small dogs and cats, getting along well with everyone. Car rides are comfortable for her when she's secured in a cat carrier, but she gets anxious when loose. Taffy requires assistance navigating stairs, but she loves being carried. This sweet girl enjoys treats and cherishes time with her humans, expressing her playful side by pushing her donut bed around to make it comfy. Taffy is blind and deaf, and there's a chance she might need her eyes removed due to pain. Currently, she’s on eye drops and is unhappy with them. She's also recovering from a fungal skin infection and is responding well to treatment. Additionally, she has a grade 5 heart murmur, requiring monitoring but no immediate treatment. While she initially had separation anxiety, Taffy has settled well in her foster home. She communicates effectively and rarely barks, although she may do so when she’s finished walking, needs to potty, or feels anxious in the car. She is progressing with housetraining and will benefit from having potty pads available at first. Taffy's had a tough life and truly deserves the best. Can you offer her the love she craves?
