Meet Hopper! Hopper is a loving Cattle Dog and Border Collie mix, just shy of a year old. He came into the rescue as a tiny puppy named Malcolm, and after a stint in a home, he's ready for his next adventure. We’re especially looking for a foster or adopter in the Northern California area, where he currently resides in Eureka. At around 35 pounds, Hopper is a handsome, playful boy with a vibrant personality. He’s neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and thrives with canine companionship. He adores his current dog buddy and is known for being incredibly loving and loyal. Although he has lots of energy for play and walks, Hopper knows how to settle down and enjoys cuddling at night. He learns quickly and already masters commands like sit, down, and wait, displaying eagerness for more training. While he’s generally house trained, he's recently had a few accidents during treatment for Giardia but is under veterinary care. He’s also comfortable in a crate. Like many young dogs, he still has puppy behaviors to refine, so he benefits from structure and positive reinforcement training. Hopper can feel anxious when away from his dog companion, making it essential to help him build confidence and independence. He hasn't been tested extensively with cats or children, so a household with another friendly dog would be ideal. With his affectionate nature, Hopper can jump with excitement to greet his favorite people, displaying his unique way of giving hugs by using his paws. This affectionate young dog truly wants to be part of every moment and needs someone committed to continuing his growth into the amazing adult dog we know he can be.
