Meet Gumbo, one of 9 Golden Retriever puppies born on June 13. Gumbo and his siblings came to the rescue at just six weeks old, needing a safe environment during a recent heatwave which their breeder couldn’t provide. The puppies' mom is a beautiful gold color while dad is red, but these little ones will not come with registration papers. Adoption comes with specific requirements. A fenced-in backyard is a must; invisible fences won’t be accepted. If your home situation complicates this, we'd consider alternatives on a case-by-case basis. Prospective adopters should have more time to dedicate to a puppy throughout the day, and any children in the household need to be at least 8 years old. We prefer homes with no more than one dog, and a puppy pen is necessary instead of a crate. We are currently only accepting applications from Indiana and neighboring states; we do not transport puppies. Candidates should apply online, and if selected, will be contacted within 72 hours. While many applications are expected, the puppies can be adopted starting August 8th. Please note that approval is not on a first-come, first-served basis. A $50 deposit will hold your puppy of choice and is refundable if you decide not to adopt after meeting them. These little ones will receive regular deworming, age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchips before adoption. Keep in mind, they will not be spayed/neutered before adoption due to potential health issues in large breeds. You'll need to agree to a spay/neuter contract and provide a $75 deposit, refundable upon completion of the procedure.
