AvailableAbout Gus
Meet Gus, a handsome Australian Shepherd ready to be a cherished companion. He came from a breeding situation that didn’t provide him the care and structure he needs. As a result, Gus has plenty of energy and is still figuring out what it means to be a part of a loving family. Since joining the rescue, Gus has been neutered, vaccinated, and is up to date on prevention. He’s crate trained but can become restless if crated for too long, so his ideal home won’t be one where he’s left alone for extended periods. He requires an active family dedicated to giving him plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation. At 1 year and 6 months old and around 43 lbs, Gus is eager to have his adventures. He thrives on activities like walks, hikes, or runs. Currently fostered with other dogs, he gets along well with them, but continued socialization is crucial. His new family should actively expose him to other dogs to reinforce healthy boundaries. Gus can be great with respectful, dog-savvy children who understand how to engage gently with dogs. However, because of his high energy, adult supervision is necessary during interactions, especially with young kids. Unfortunately, he is not suitable for homes with cats or chickens. This dog deserves a family willing to invest their time in his training and socialization. Gus is ready to leave behind his past and embrace a life filled with love and adventure. If you’re an active individual looking for a loyal companion to share life with, Gus might just be the one for you. Gus is located in Houston, Texas, and is available for adoption nationwide.
