About Fern

Meet Fern. This sweet girl is embarking on a journey to discover what it truly means to be loved. Her estimated birthday is December 23, 2023, and her past has been tough; she arrived from Kankakee Animal Control, bearing the marks of neglect. Initially, Fern was terrified of the world, but she's gradually revealing her playful side. When she feels secure, you can see a goofy, joyful dog emerge, hopping around like a deer and zooming with delight alongside her foster dog friends. She's good with other dogs and gets along well with cats too. A confident canine companion would be a major boost for her, helping to ease her anxiety about her surroundings. Fern is crate trained and regards her crate as a safe space. She's making strides in house training and learning basic commands, but patience is key. Her ideal home should be calm, with a fenced yard and older or calmer children, as the hustle of a busy household may overwhelm her. Fern needs someone who understands that building trust takes time. If you're ready to provide the love and patience she deserves, Fern is waiting for you. Think you can help Fern blossom into the dog she's meant to be? What are you waiting for? Apply today!
