AvailableAbout Grits
Grits joined CVHS after his family faced housing challenges and couldn’t find a pet-friendly place. His sibling already found a new home, so now it's his turn. This high-energy dog, around three years old, has a zest for life that makes him feel much younger. His previous owner described him as having the playful spirit of a teenage boy, and that couldn’t be more accurate! Grits thrives in active environments where he can engage in a variety of fun activities to keep both his mind and body busy. He’s lived with various people, including children over six, and has interacted with dogs and cats, but he does not get along well with chickens. While he can be overly enthusiastic when meeting new dogs, we are working to calm his greetings. He might need extra patience and guidance, especially during interactions with small kids, as his excitement can lead to bumping into them. Grits loves playing fetch, tug-of-war, and enjoys vigorous walks on a leash. He also has a talent for spontaneous zoomies around the yard. His previous owner indicated he lacks recall, so off-leash outings require extra caution. To assist him, we’re offering a 5-week Good Manners training course, included in the adoption fee. If you think you can provide Grits the active and loving home he needs, contact the Central Vermont Humane Society at 802-476-3811 or email info@centralvermonthumane.org to learn more.
