About Phoenix
Meet Phoenix! At 10 years old, this Shih Tzu is still full of love and spirit. Life has dealt him a tough hand, having lost two owners, but he remains a gentle companion ready to give his heart again. Phoenix is currently in New Mexico, being well cared for by his longtime groomer, before making his way to a foster home in the Pacific Northwest where he’ll wait for his forever family. He's an easygoing dog who enjoys being around both people and other pets. While he has bowed front legs, a common trait in Shih Tzus that can lead to arthritis, he takes Rimadyl daily to keep him comfortable. Despite this, he moves about happily and loves being part of a family. Phoenix is doggy door trained and has good house manners. While he sometimes has urinary accidents, he never has accidents with bowel movements. He’s lived harmoniously with both dogs and cats and currently shares his space well with multiple dogs. He respects cats most of the time, but may occasionally give in to a playful chase. This sweet boy would thrive in a calm environment, especially with older, respectful children who understand that senior dogs enjoy peace and quiet. After losing his previous families, Phoenix hopes to find a loving home for his golden years. If you are looking for a loyal and gentle companion who simply needs a soft bed, love, and belonging, Phoenix is here waiting for you. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
