Currently located in Ringwood, IL, she weighs approximately 83 lbs. Sophie is on a special diet to help her achieve a healthier weight. She's friendly, gets along well with dogs, cats, and older children, making her a great addition to any family.
About Sophie
Meet Sophie, a sweet black tri-standard Australian Shepherd fostered in Waukesha, WI. Born on February 17, 2020, she weighs about 83 lbs, which is a bit overweight. Thankfully, she’s already lost some pounds thanks to her special diet and an active lifestyle. Sophie is crate and potty trained but doesn’t necessarily need crating to feel comfortable in her foster home. She does remarkably well with children aged 10 and older. Initially standoffish, she warms up quickly with treats and affection. Her love for food makes training a breeze. In addition, she rides well in the car and walks nicely on a leash. Her ideal forever home should be dedicated to helping her reach a healthier weight of 50-55 lbs. She enjoys water play, having tested out a kiddie pool in her foster home. Sophie is great with other dogs and cats, getting along well with her foster siblings. She has been spayed, and her vaccinations are current. She is also microchipped and negative for all tick-borne diseases, on monthly preventative care for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. Adoption requires proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets. Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an approved application is necessary to schedule a meet.
