Meet Ellie, a 5-6 year old black Lab mix weighing about 45 lbs. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, ready for her forever home. Ellie’s journey began on March 15th when she was found injured in the desert, likely hit by a car. Rescued by Pinal County Animal Care and Control, she came in with serious injuries, including a dislocated hip. While her wounds were treated, she faced the threat of euthanasia without a rescue stepping in. Desert Paws answered that call, and within a day, Ellie was safe and looked after. At the vet, X-rays confirmed she needed surgery for her hip. With the help of her foster family, Ellie blossomed; she gradually learned to enjoy life's simple pleasures, like soft grass underfoot. Post-surgery, she thrived and spent time with her favorite companions—cats and kittens, whom she adores. Sweet, affectionate, and a total couch cuddler, Ellie enjoys car rides and prefers a calm home environment. She’s good with teenagers, crated-trained, smart, and has lovely manners. As she builds her confidence, an experienced dog owner would be the best fit.
