Meet Ernie, a charming 8-year-old Pit Bull Terrier and Cattle Dog mix looking for his forever home. Previously known as Max, Ernie weighs around 63 lbs and is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX, ready to transport once he finds an approved adopter. Ernie's story is quite the adventure; he was rescued from a busy street thanks to a quick-thinking foster mom who saw him nearly getting hit by a car. He clearly had a caring owner in the past, as he's healthy and well-loved, but unfortunately, his owner didn’t reclaim him despite being microchipped. Now, this sweet-natured boy is eager to find a family to call his own. This delightful gentleman is both chill and playful, enjoying walks and playdates with anyone he meets, human or animal. He adores other dogs, wagging his tail enthusiastically when he sees them and hoping for a friendly greeting. Ernie is also gentle with smaller dogs and is currently living harmoniously with a little Aussie who likes to take charge. While he hasn’t been around kids, Ernie's gentle nature suggests he’d do well with them. He is house trained, gets along with dogs, and his foster thinks he might be okay with cats, as he shows interest without aggression. Although he prefers being next to you, he does have some crate anxiety and would rather be left loose at home, where he’s not destructive. Ernie would thrive in any loving environment—whether that’s a family with kids, a couple, or a first-time dog owner. This senior pup has plenty of love to give and just wants to be part of a family.
