Meet Petra, a remarkable survivor with an inspiring story. This brave girl started her life on the streets of St. Lucia, facing incredible challenges from a very young age. She was just a tiny puppy, alone and searching for food, navigating a world filled with dangers. When a rescue volunteer from SLAPS found her, Petra was terrified, quickly scurrying away with any food she could find. Despite weighing only 8 pounds when she was rescued, her spirit remained unbroken. With love and patience, she transformed into a playful, spirited dog who loves to explore. After a year at the shelter, Petra journeyed to the U.S. and is now in foster care with Bruno Project Rescue. Here, she is learning the joys of companionship and outdoor adventures. The moment her harness appears, she becomes a bundle of joy, ready for walks and exploration. Petra thrives in a calm environment, ideally in a home without small children, where she can gain confidence at her own pace. She's friendly with other dogs and even enjoys the company of cats. She's learned her routines well and sleeps peacefully at night, greeting each day with a gentle curiosity.
