Meet Sandman, a charming 6-year-old neutered male Blue Point Siamese weighing 12 lbs. This gentle soul came to us from a city shelter after testing positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), a condition that’s often misunderstood. Thankfully, he narrowly escaped euthanasia and has since captured the hearts of our director and volunteers. Sandman is a laid-back companion who enjoys cozying up with his humans and is more than happy to have playful young puppies or kittens around him. He’s a big fan of chin rubs and couch naps, and he brings a sweet, patient energy to any room. Just recently, he had a dental cleaning, and despite some discoloration, his teeth are in great shape for a cat who spent much of his life outdoors. He had a brief sniffle that cleared up with antibiotics, showcasing his resilience. It’s important for potential adopters to understand that Sandman, due to his FIV status, may need extra vet visits at the sign of any illness. Keeping him indoors and away from sick animals will help keep him healthy. While he can live with other friendly cats, any sickness from a housemate could affect him, so prompt veterinary care is essential.
