About Hitachi
Hitachi is ready for a patient lady who understands that love takes time. This gentle soul thrives on companionship, following his foster mom from room to room. He enjoys perfecting his treat-taking skills and has a keen eye for squirrels who don't quite see him coming. True to his "Velcro dog" nature, Hitachi loves to curl up next to you, especially at bedtime when he’ll claim his spot right by your side. Food is a big deal for him—he’s working on gaining weight, so he prefers small, frequent snacks throughout the day. Hitachi is loyal, an expert cuddler, and enjoys leisurely walks followed by cozy naps. He prefers playing with larger dogs and takes slow introductions well, although he might accidentally bump into smaller canines. However, he comes with some challenges. Hitachi isn’t fond of kitchen counters, and he’s still overcoming some emotional baggage from his past experiences with men, causing him to be skittish and hesitant around them. He may bark when overly excited or unable to see you. Currently being treated for Lyme disease, Hitachi has been responding well to medication. While he’s not up for long hikes right now, a brief walk followed by a nap on the couch would make him happy. He may also have some separation anxiety that is being managed with medication.
