AvailableErnie is a male German Shepherd Dog, about 3 years and 7 months old, currently in Suamico, WI. He’s large and house trained, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations. He will thrive best in a quiet, consistent environment.
About Ernie
Ernie has worked hard to recover from a rough start and made an impressive turnaround, but he will always need some extra attention. He’s on a specific diet of Rawbble turkey kibble—soaked, not dry—with daily probiotics and regular Heartgard. His new home must be quiet and steady. Loud environments or sudden noise unsettle him, and he’s most comfortable where children are not present. Ernie takes time to trust new people. He doesn’t care for being picked up or having anyone in his space, and while he’s made progress with men, he still needs patience. He gets along well with other dogs that aren’t dominant, but he does not do well with cats or small animals. He’s shown too much interest in chickens, so a household without other pets would set him up for success. After previous injuries, a durable Ruffland kennel is necessary for his safety if crated for longer stretches. Still, a home with someone around most of the time suits him best, since he doesn’t enjoy being crated for long. Ernie needs an adopter who’s patient, consistent, and understands his unique needs. With structure and time, Ernie will reward you with loyalty and affection. He was born on October 22, making him a determined and clever Scorpio. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
