About Sunny D

My foster writes: Sunny D is gentle and easy to please. Little chirps in the morning, say hello as I gather her breakfast. And we begin the day together. Sunny immediately made herself at home, very confident, and now functions as a greeter when I have guests over. Sunny mostly follows me room to room, with her little chirps, occasionally head butting my legs or hands asking for pets, offering nice little breaks as I work from home. Nothing makes her happier than a Delectables treat, she'll climb all over me to finish her snack and rubs herself against me after as if to say thank you. Sunny doesn't love being carried around but tolerates it for a short while, she prefers to sleep pick her spot on your leg or lap to use as a pillow. What my friends at ACC say about me: I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. Sunny D is laying in her den, head resting against the back wall with her ears forward as the assessor approaches. When the kennel door is opened and she is softly spoken to, she does not move from her laying position but does return slow blinks after a couple of minutes. Sunny D is tolerant of petting with the scratcher tool, leaning in very slightly to petting on the head with the tool. She is tolerant of brief petting on her head and cheeks directly with the assessor's hands but tenses, flinches, and leans away to avoid contact. Pickup is not attempted due to observed behavior, and she is unable to be coaxed out of the den. Sunny D tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in fearful cat behavior.
