Meet Mei, a 4-year-old female spayed Red Shiba Inu who embodies gentleness. This lovely dog doesn’t bark much and has never shown any aggression. All Mei seeks is a quiet, loving environment where she can truly feel safe. Since her spay surgery on July 14, she's been recovering beautifully and is ready for her forever home. When Mei first arrived, she was quite timid, flinching at every touch. However, with patience and routine, she has made amazing progress. She now seeks affection from those she trusts and continues building her confidence week by week. Although she may be shy around new faces, we believe she will thrive in a nurturing home filled with love and structure. Mei is larger for her breed and would greatly benefit from exercise and a healthy diet. She gets along well with other dogs and has adapted nicely to living with cats. However, she does resource guard food and high-value items like stuffed Kongs, so it's best to provide those separately. The ideal home for Mei is calm and patient, understanding the needs of a shy dog. Due to her fear of loud noises, a household with young children wouldn’t suit her well; she might spend too much time hiding instead of learning to relax. Additionally, it's important to note that like many Shibas, Mei is a flight risk, requiring careful management around doors and gates.
