Weighing around 45 pounds, this medium-sized boy is incredibly smart and loving. He’s on a journey to become a confident companion, making daily strides in building trust with those he loves. Humphrey finds joy in simple pleasures such as playing with his black Kong chew toys, chasing balls, enjoying frozen pupsicles, and engaging in training sessions. He’s affectionate too, often stopping for a quick lick on your ankle before he goes off to find his next toy or enjoy some water. With his strong desire for love, he leans into his favorite people for heartfelt hugs. Having completed two rounds of behavioral training, Humphrey proudly shows off his commands such as sit, down, wait, place, stand, look, and leave it. He thrives on positive reinforcement and is making impressive progress, especially after starting Fluoxetine to help with his separation anxiety. He is gradually getting used to being alone for short periods, though a calm environment with steady human companionship is essential. Humphrey needs an experienced adopter who understands the needs of anxious dogs. He reacts to unfamiliar sights and sounds, so a stable household without young children or other pets is best to keep him feeling secure. The ideal home would have adults who can dedicate time to help him build confidence. Although he hasn’t met cats formally, his high prey drive suggests a cat-free home would be safest. This vaccinated, neutered, house-trained, and microchipped boy is looking for a family ready to support him through his next chapter.
