About Grits
Meet Grits! This handsome snow-white boy is as sweet as they come. At about 8-9 months old, Grits is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix who was found wandering near a grocery store in Rock Hill, SC. Thankfully, one of our volunteers took him in, and he soon found himself safe, vetted, and on his way to a foster home. During his time in boarding, Grits quickly became a favorite among the staff, showing off his playful and social nature. Now settled into foster care with two resident dogs, he enjoys daily walks, trips to pet-friendly stores, and outings to local nature preserves. Grits is always curious and eager to meet new people and children, embracing every new experience he encounters. With a medium energy level, Grits strikes a nice balance between playfulness and calm. He isn’t clingy but enjoys exploring and sniffing every interesting scent before returning for pets or settling beside you. His leash manners are improving daily, and he quickly settles during walks. Grits is both potty trained and crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night. He’s on his way to mastering basic commands thanks to his food motivation and eagerness to learn. His favorite game? Chasing tennis balls and learning to "bring it" and "drop it." Grits gets along well with other dogs and loves participating in playgroups. He is gentle with children, and while he can get a bit excited, he responds well to training and has a heart full of affection. If you’re looking for a young dog who’s adventurous and ready for a family, Grits might just be the perfect fit. He's waiting for his forever home, so apply today!
