About Athena
Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started. Athena is a sweet senior girl, almost 8 years old, searching for her perfect forever home. She adores people—especially adults—and will happily greet newcomers at home for cuddles or long walks. Athena’s greatest joys include savoring treats (cheese is her favorite!), sunbathing on the deck, and spending time with her beloved stuffed hedgehog, which she uses to self-soothe when feeling overwhelmed. This fashion-forward girl lights up at the sight of cozy sweaters and always looks forward to a stylish outfit. Trail walks are one of her favorite adventures, and she’s usually good on a loose leash, though her terrier instincts sometimes kick in when a squirrel dashes by. Rescued after being abandoned during a rainstorm with her puppies, Athena traveled north and settled into a loving home before coming to Virginia. She is healthy overall, with just a minor floating kneecap and potential skin allergies to watch for. Athena prefers a relaxed, adult-only home where she doesn’t have to share her space with kids. While she is ‘dog selective’ and prefers to quietly coexist, cats weren’t a good match for her at a recent event. Athena shines in the home: she is fully crate trained (though she doesn’t need it) and house broken, never chews things that aren’t hers, and is trustworthy for free roaming. She knows many basic commands, shows off her agility skills, and is eager to learn more, though she’s still working on leash manners with big dogs and handling bursts of excitement. Born October 13th, Athena is a charming Libra, known for her desire for harmony and affection. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
