About Diego

Meet Diego—he's proof that resilience comes in the sweetest packages. This handsome five-month-old black Lab puppy was rescued after being abandoned in a field near a truck stop, where he spent days trying to survive on his own. Unsure whether the people searching for him were there to help or hurt him, he kept his distance until he finally realized the kind folks standing in the rain with treats were there to save him. Once he was safely caught, Diego went to a wonderful animal hospital, where he finally got the care, quiet, and rest he desperately needed. Everything he's been through has made him a bit reserved at first, but he warms up quickly and has an incredibly gentle, loving personality. His ideal home would have someone willing to give him a little time as his confidence blooms. Like all young Labs, Diego enjoys the company of other dogs and is beginning to discover that people can be wonderful too. With ongoing training, structure, and plenty of love, he’ll become a fantastic companion. If you're looking for a kind-hearted best friend who has a sleek black coat and long, lanky legs—and you believe the best relationships are built on trust—Diego is your perfect match.
