About Checkers
Meet Checkers! This delightful young cat was rescued from living outdoors as part of a community cat colony. She showed signs of being social and has now started her journey towards adoption. Patience is key with Checkers as she transitions into her new home. It often takes community cats a while to adjust: about three days to decompress, three weeks to start settling in, and up to three months to truly feel at home and show off their personality. You might find her hiding at first, so it's a good idea to confine her to a small, safe space where she can feel secure while acclimating. Using tasty treats, like stinky wet food and Churu treats, will help you bond with her. Gently using a back scratcher to pet her while she enjoys some goodies can encourage her to associate petting with positive experiences. Checkers is already spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations, ready for her forever home. Thinking about giving her a loving space? Be sure to check out our adoption hours: Wednesdays to Sundays from 1 PM to 6 PM, and Tuesdays by appointment. Checkers is waiting to find her perfect match. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
