About Murphy
Meet Murphy! This goofy and affectionate two-year-old Labrador Retriever mix is currently living in Westminster, MA, with floppy ears and a golden coat that only begins to capture his charm. Weighing in at an impressive 70 pounds, Murphy approaches life with boundless energy and cheerful tail wags. He often chats with playful noises, giving a sense that he's trying to communicate. Murphy enjoys simple pleasures, including leisurely walks, car rides, chew toys, and exhilarating zoomies in the yard. Underneath his playful exterior, he's quite intelligent, easily responding to clicker training. He’s already mastered sit and lay down, while diligently working on stay and recall. Social by nature, Murphy thrives in the company of other dogs. He would do well in a home with a confident canine friend to help him build his confidence. Doggie daycare is one of his favorite spots, where he comes out of his shell and embraces social interactions. At home, he enjoys a consistent routine, often curling up for snuggles after exciting play sessions. However, Murphy has some anxiety, particularly in unfamiliar or chaotic settings. He has exhibited fear-based behaviors, including three incidents where he nipped or bit. This behavior is rooted in fear, not aggression, and his guardians have worked hard to foster a secure environment. While he can be a bit cautious around some men, he has made strides with consistent love and training. An experienced, calm pet parent would be ideal for him, helping him feel safe and supported. To really help him flourish, slow introductions to new experiences are recommended. A home without children would be best for Murphy. He also requires a mindful diet, as chicken has been linked to skin sensitivities, which are managed through selected foods and regular soothing baths. With the right care, his golden coat glows nearly as brightly as his pleasant personality! Could you be the kind, understanding companion to help Murphy flourish in a peaceful, loving home?
