About Barrett

Meet Barrett. His journey hasn't been easy, coming from a heartbreaking hoarding situation with over 135 dogs. In this environment, he never learned that people could be kind or that the world could be safe. As a result, Barrett isn't the type of dog to rush into your arms on day one. In fact, it took him about two weeks to start seeking out companionship and to feel comfortable enough to be around us. Barrett is cautious around new people and places, requiring a calm, patient home that understands that healing takes time. His future family will need to allow him to progress at his own pace, celebrate his little victories, and embrace him as he is, without the expectation of perfection. What we’ve discovered about Barrett is that beneath the nervous exterior lies a dog eager to trust. When he feels secure, you can observe his curiosity emerging. He'll draw nearer, relaxed enough to watch without fear, and slowly begin to believe that life can improve. Barrett isn't looking to be "fixed"; he wants someone who can meet him where he is and provide the time he deserves. This takes commitment, and if you’re seeking an instant best friend, he might not be the right fit. However, for those with the patience to help this timid little dog learn about love, they will eventually forge a unique bond that is truly rewarding. Sometimes, the dogs that take the longest to trust are also those that love the deepest. Barrett has already overcome so much. Now he needs someone to give him the chance he's longed for.
