About Baxter
Meet Baxter! This sweet young man is a mixed breed boy, currently weighing around 32 pounds. Estimated to be about a year old, he may still grow some more! Baxter was found as a stray and was regrettably never reclaimed. Now, he’s looking for a forever home where he can finally feel safe and settled. The shelter has been a bit overwhelming for this gentle soul. While he’s friendly, the hustle and bustle of shelter life can be daunting for him. Because of this, he often prefers to take things slow as he learns that the world isn't so scary after all. Baxter has a gentle heart and a lot of love to give! He’s searching for a calm and patient family that will allow him to progress at his own pace, celebrating small victories along the way. With time, consistency, and plenty of love, Baxter will soon blossom into the extraordinary companion he is meant to be. During his dog test, Baxter showed flashes of confidence, enjoying playtime with another dog in our yard. Having a canine companion may help him build trust and can make a big difference in his adjustment. There's also potential for him to live with a cat, given proper introductions. For now, staff believe Baxter would thrive in a home with children aged 10 and older as he continues to gain confidence. Baxter will be joining our foster-to-adopt program while he awaits his upcoming neuter surgery. He’s ready to head to his forever home now, with final adoption arrangements made after his procedure. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
