About Urchin
Urchin is a 41 lb. neutered male who is about 2 years old. This sweet boy wears his heart on his sleeve, and he’s looking for a patient human to help him feel safe in a sometimes overwhelming world. Initially, Urchin kept his distance, quietly observing as he decided if he could trust me. But with gentle encouragement, he took that brave first step and leaned against me, curling into my lap as if he had finally found security. By our time together’s end, he was relaxed and playful, enjoying belly rubs and peacefully dozing off. It’s a beautiful reminder of what a bit of kindness can do for a frightened dog. Right now, Urchin isn’t too interested in toys; he’s searching for companionship. He was initially wary of treats but soon grew comfortable enough to accept them gently, showing eagerness to please. When walking through doorways made him nervous, a few treats and lots of patience helped him find the courage to move forward. Urchin seems non-reactive to other dogs nearby and may thrive with a fur sibling after slow introductions. Although his behavior with other dogs, cats, or kids is unknown, it’s clear he needs a calm family that understands trust takes time and quiet moments to build. Watching him transform from a timid pup into a loving companion is incredibly rewarding. He will always remember the gentle hand that showed him the world can be a safe place.
