About Layla
Meet Layla, a sweet 10-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing about 19 pounds. Once a puppy adopted from Smidget Rescue in 2017, she needs a loving home after her owner passed away and her other partner entered assisted living. Layla is currently on a diet and exercise plan to help her achieve her ideal weight of around 15 pounds. She enjoys being around her people, gets along well with her foster sisters, and plays nicely with other dogs she knows. A clever girl, Layla is eager to learn new tricks, especially when treats are involved. While she has a stubborn side – she’s not a fan of being picked up and moved off the bed – she loves cozy spots like beds and couches. She also enjoys car rides and long walks, although she might try to take advantage of an open gate if given the chance. In the yard, she’s a curious explorer, relishing the opportunity to sniff everything and relax in the sun. Layla has a medium-loud bark that she mainly uses when excited or when someone is at the door. Though she may initially bark at strangers, she quickly warms up with some petting. Layla is house trained, has a strong bladder, and enjoys her food – dry or wet, as well as treats like carrots and blueberries.
