About Ava

Ava is around a year old and was among the first group of kitties welcomed to our shelter in 2026. She was rescued from a challenging situation where a local senior found herself with five unsocialized cats after a relative left them behind. The timing was perfect, as these young cats needed immediate help to prevent their population from growing. Ava and her companions were very timid, often hiding from people. It took quite a bit of effort, including the use of food and humane traps, to bring them to safety. Ava might be described as a "spirit cat," a label for those who are shy and take time to adjust. Though still somewhat reserved, she has shown progress and now enjoys gentle petting, even if she’s not quite ready to be held. Ava loves bird watching and prefers a quiet home where she can feel secure. She would do best with one or two patient adults who can give her the space she needs to adapt. While she has lived with other cats, she prefers a calm companion and finds kittens too energetic. Though she has been around dogs at the shelter, she hasn't lived with them and would likely appreciate a peaceful environment. Ava's ideal home would not have small children or frequent visitors, as those factors can be overwhelming for her. She deserves a loving and understanding forever home where she can thrive. If you think you're patient enough to help Ava blossom, she is ready for her next chapter outside the shelter walls. Click apply to start the adoption process.
