ADOPTION FEE $225.00 Thank you for choosing to adopt or foster and aid in the rescue efforts of RARE! **Adoption Interest Form REQUIRED via our website Rarerescue.org** Meet Missy (formerly Mavis) Missy is a darling little Maltipoo (or at least our best guess!) with a gentle spirit and so much love to give. She was originally adopted from our program in May of 2016 when she was just 7 months old and has been a cherished companion ever since. Sadly, due to heartbreaking circumstances, Missy is now in urgent need of a new home. After a divorce a few years ago, she remained with her mom, who is now elderly and bravely battling stage four breast cancer that has spread to her stomach, bones, and skin. She is no longer able to care for herself or her dogs and must move out of state to live with family. As much as she loves Missy (and Ryman, the other dog she adopted from us), she is unable to take them with her or provide the care they need. Because of this, we are urgently searching for a foster or adopter for Missy. Missy can be placed with Ryman or separately, and they may even do best in their own homes where they can each receive individual attention. She is wonderful with other dogs and truly loves all peopleshe has a sweet, affectionate personality that makes her an easy companion. Missy does have a heart murmur, so while in foster, RARE will ensure she receives a full veterinary work-up to better understand her needs. She has been kept up to date on vaccines and has clearly been loved and cared for. Missy is looking for a soft, loving place to land during this difficult transitionwhether thats a temporary foster home or a forever family ready to welcome her in. She deserves comfort, stability, and to be surrounded by kindness as her world changes. All of our Adoptables are: Spayed/neutered; Up to date on vaccines; Heartworm tested if six months or older (& kept on heartworm preventative and treated for heartworms if positive when entering our program): Microchipped prior to adoption BREEDS: We are not breed experts. The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions. PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption. Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care. As a potential family for this pet you are responsible for their safety and that includes keeping them on your property. ***If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance and local adaptability. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 1.5 hours driving distance.
