Rocky is ten years old, five pounds, and has been through more than a dog his size should ever have to deal with. He was adopted from the shelter once before. Then he showed up again as a stray, a full pound lighter. On a five pound dog that is not nothing. We do not know what happened in between and honestly we are not sure we want to. What we do know is that he came to us with heavy tartar, a grade 2 heart murmur, and alopecia on his ears and hind legs. He was quiet and gentle from day one. The shelter notes describe him as low fear, friendly, easy to work with. A dog who had clearly known kindness at some point and never stopped expecting it. He is now in a foster home with some wonderful humans and he is doing great. He has been cleared for a dental which is going to make a significant difference. His heart murmur is being monitored and we are keeping a close eye on everything as we get to know him better. Rocky is calm, sweet, and five pounds of pure resilience. He is ready for someone to make sure he never ends up back at square one again.
