Usually I start with everything a dog is, like crate trained, house broken, etc. But for Benny the husky mix, I'm going to start backwards. Benny is not reactive, a runner, fence jumper, digger, shedder. Okay, kidding with that last one, he sheds. But he LOVES being brushed, it's just another form of being petted which is his favorite past time...behind snuggling. Ben loves slow walks, other female dogs, kids, and is non reactive to cats. When I say non-reactive, he has stood placidly and calmly while yappy neighbor dogs were two feet from him, didn't jump at the sound of fireworks, he just meanders along with his person. Per a certified trainer, he will make someone a great family dog. His one Achilles heel, he likes to chase a bunny. But remember when I said he's not a runner? He gets about half a house away and decides, nevermind. He will do well in ANY environment. Ever wanted a husky, but you live in an apartment or have no yard? No worries, slow meander is his normal speed, but he can get slower. Have a yard? He will quietly walk, lay around the yard for however long you let him. Benny is 3 years old and is about 55 lbs.
