About Goose

Hi there! My name is Goose, although some people call me "Silly Goose" because, well, I like to keep life fun. I'm a standard-sized Dachshund with a full figure and an even fuller heart. If you're looking for a dog who believes personal space is highly overrated, we might be a perfect match. My favorite place to be is right next to you, on you, or touching you in some way. If you sit down, I'll happily volunteer to be your weighted blanket. If you lie down, I'll be right beside you before you can say "Goose." I absolutely adore people. Everyone I meet is a potential best friend, and I show my appreciation with plenty of kisses. I have a gentle soul and a loving nature, and all I really want is to be close to my humans. I get along with other dogs and cats, I love everyone! One thing my foster family is especially proud of. I am 100% housebroken. I know my manners and am happy to keep a tidy home. I'm also told that I have the softest coat imaginable and beautiful dapple patterns on my ears that make me extra special. When I'm not snuggling, you'll usually find me outside. Sunshine is my love language. I can often be spotted soaking up warm rays, rolling around in the grass, or simply enjoying a beautiful day. Walks are another favorite activity, although I should warn you that I take my job as Neighborhood Smell Inspector very seriously. Every leaf, flower, and patch of grass deserves a thorough investigation. Now, I do have one tiny flaw. If I think you've forgotten to pay attention to me, I may politely remind you with a little whine. And if that doesn't work, I might remind you again. And again. What can I say? I love my people and don't see any reason we shouldn't be always spending time together. Like most brave girls, I do have a couple of things that make me nervous. The vacuum cleaner is highly suspicious, and the veterinarian's office is downright terrifying. I'd much rather spend my time doing important things like cuddling and sunbathing. At the end of the day, I'm happiest, curled up right beside my person, dreaming about sunshine, grass, and all the love we'll share together. Whether you're reading a book, watching TV, working from home, or taking an afternoon nap, I'll be right there, keeping you company. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big heart, gentle spirit, excellent house manners, and endless affection, I think we'd make a wonderful team. Love, Goose All our dogs are current on vaccinations which include Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Bordetella. They are spayed and or neutered, have been fecal tested and heartworm tested, and had a dental cleaning if necessary. They are all on heartworm and flea/tick preventative as needed in rescue. They all will have a microchip that will be registered in the adopter's name and is good for a lifetime with no additional fees. The adoption process is an application, a vet reference, a home inspection, and a lifetime contract. The requested adoption donation for all our dogs is $400. We do not REQUIRE a fenced in yard (some dogs do not require a fence, if they can walk well on harness and leash. This is decided by what is best for each dog individually.) We are willing to adopt to out-of-state applicants, but you must travel to the foster home location of your dog which is in Omaha or within a 90-minute drive from the Omaha area to meet and travel home with your dog. We do not transport or ship dogs. If you are interested in adding this beautiful baby to your loving family, please visit our website and fill out an adoption application at http://www.nebraskadachshundrescue.org/adoptapp.htm The adoption fee is $400.
