BREED/MIX: Dachshund Miniature Pinscher mix REHOMING: Stated below Would you like a sweet dog to cuddle? If you said yes, Daisy would be the perfect dog for you! She is a very sweet and well-behaved dog and has blended seamlessly into our home of two adults and two dogs. In the 312 weeks she has been with us, she has adapted easily to our schedules, routines, and activities. This includes accompanying us to trivia nights at the local brewery, parties, offices, and stores. She encounters people of all ages and dogs of all kinds at these venues and makes friends everywhere she goes. So why is she looking for a new home? She was surrendered by a woman who fled an abusive husband with her two young children and Daisy. She works a minimum-wage job and obviously has few options. Daisy was like a therapy dog for her and its obvious by Daisys behavior that she was well loved. She came with food, toys, and a bone. She left her daughters sweatshirt with us so it would comfort Daisy. The woman adopted Daisy at 9 months from a rescue group in California. How we heard about Daisy. We were the only people who responded to her ad on a local e-bulletin board, so of course we took her. A friend forwarded the ad to me because it said A dachshund needed a good home. I have two dachshunds, both surrendered, and I fostered once for a dachshund rescue group. My plan was to put her up with that group. However, Daisy is a dachshund/min pin mix and looks more like a min-pin than a dachshund, so the dachshund rescue group is out. My husband and I have had three dogs at a time before, but he retired recently and we like to travel. So, we hope Daisy will find a loving family or person who will provide the home she deserves. Physical: She had a full check up at the vet on June 5 th and received a clean bill of health. She got all the vaccinationsrabies, distemper, bordetella. Negative for worms, including heartworm. She has been given heartworm medicine. She went to the groomer the following week. Daisy is considered special needs due to being a tripodmissing her right front leg because of an injury a long time ago, she gets around so well that it isnt a disability. She weighs 20 lbs and is 12 years young. She seems young for her age and still likes to play with her squeaky toys. Daisy is housebroken and behaves well inside the house. That is, she hasnt damaged anything. We have quite a lot of property, so we let the dogs out loose. She sticks close by and comes when shes called. Food. The only real accommodation we have had to make for her is that she is used to grazing from a self-feeding dish. Our dogs would eat all her food probably in one sittingif given that option! She is protective of her food, so we separate her from the other dogs when we set her dish down several times a day. Daisy would make a great therapy dog! My current dogs are my 5 th and 6 th therapy dogs and Ive been volunteering with therapy dog groups for about 30years. Shed probably be an inspiration for people with disabilities.
