About Katniss
Meet Katniss! Katniss is a fluffy, fox-faced sweetheart with the gentlest soul and a charming, perpetual smile. At about 2 years old and weighing around 65 pounds, she’s a lovely Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix. This girl embodies a unique blend of softness, sensitivity, playfulness, and quiet affection. Katniss, along with her brother Peeta, faced a difficult situation when they were abandoned and had to learn to trust humans again. Initially, she was timid and unsure, but with patience, love, and the companionship of another dog, she has transformed into a sweet, silly shadow who enjoys affection. Though she can be shy with new people, taking her time to warm up, once you earn her trust, her affectionate nature shines through. One of her most endearing traits is the way she sometimes startles when approached but quickly melts into the love she receives. She adores other dogs, thriving with their company, and a confident friend would help her build more confidence. Katniss is playful and gets a little goofy with her toys. She is working on her outdoor fears and needs an adopter who understands the importance of patience and positive reinforcement. Given her size and timid demeanor, a calm home with older children (10+) who respect her space would be ideal. An experienced owner, a predictable routine, and ideally another dog companion are what she needs to flourish. Witnessing Katniss discover comfort and safety is a heartwarming experience. Deep inside this gentle girl is a loving, goofy spirit eager to feel secure enough to be herself. Located in Houston, Texas, Katniss is ready to find her forever home. Transport to most states is available for an additional fee of $350-$500. Let’s make it official, apply to adopt!
