About Rye
Small, sweet, and sassy—that's Rye, an Australian Cattle Dog from Winthrop, MA. At nine years old, she’s healthy and fairly active. One of her favorite pastimes is playing catch, and she loves exploring the beach or woods. Off-leash, she thrives, but on a leash, she can be a bit more challenging; she may pull or bark at other dogs, though some gentle guidance can help redirect her. Cuddly and smart, Rye knows some commands and is potty trained. She's spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. While she does well with routine and positive reinforcement, she tends to be strong-willed, making her better suited as either the only pet or in a home with a calm resident dog. Currently, she lives harmoniously with a Jack Russell but has a rocky relationship with another female dog in the household. Rye has been through a lot; she lost her first owner in an accident and was taken in by a friend who could no longer keep her due to family circumstances. She gets along well with older children who understand dogs, but herding breeds like her typically don't mesh with younger, rowdy kids. A home with a yard would be ideal for this loyal companion. If you understand her needs and are ready to offer a loving environment, she's eager to meet you. Start your journey together by applying now!
