About Dottie
Dottie is a lively almost 4-year-old English Pointer who deserves a fresh start. Originally trained for hunting, she was set aside after showing sensitivity to gunfire. Much of her earlier life was spent in a kennel, but she’s now experiencing the joys of home life. Since joining her foster home, Dottie has embraced running, sniffing, and exploring. True to her Pointer nature, she flourishes with daily outdoor time for exercise. Whether she’s chasing a ball or playing with her toys, she finds ways to keep herself happily entertained. Dottie is friendly and social. She gets along well with other dogs and children but has shown little interest in cats. However, her prey drive means she'll need supervision outdoors to prevent her from wandering off after interesting scents. She’s already learned commands like “come” and enjoys games like fetch, making her a fantastic fit for an active household. Adjusting to life indoors has been a journey for her, as this is her first real home setting. She’s learning what belongs to her and that countertops are off-limits. Fully house trained and comfortable in her crate, she will even tuck herself in when it’s time to relax. After some initial weight loss from the transition, she is now eating consistently and gaining weight. Dottie would thrive in an active, outdoorsy home, particularly with someone familiar with hunting or pointing breeds. With patience, consistency, and plenty of chances to run, she is sure to become a wonderful companion. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
