About Slink
Slink fits his name perfectly with a long, lanky frame and a gentle, eager presence. He’s a German Shepherd mix who leads with affection—he gravitates to people, craving attention and always sticking close for a bit of love. Slink thrives around dogs too, soaking up positive energy from his canine buddies and staying upbeat, even after a rough start as a stray. Life in an agricultural stretch of Kern County was never stable for Slink. His last family let him wander and didn’t look for him. He spent over a month at a rural shelter, overlooked like so many large dogs, until rescue stepped in. Since coming to the ranch, Slink hasn’t looked back—he’s embraced the routine, interaction, and even completed the Pawsitive Change prison program, coming away with a solid grasp of basic obedience. He’s after a home that thrives on activity and wants to keep him challenged, both physically and mentally. Slink will be happiest with a family that values training and has another playful dog to share life with. He does not get along with cats, so a feline-free household is best. Slink is a bundle of upbeat energy waiting to plug into a home that matches his drive and heart. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
