Eddie is a male Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog mix in Burlington, WA. He’s an adult of large size and has been neutered. Eddie is housebroken and looking for someone with experience and patience to help him continue building trust and confidence.

About Eddie

When Eddie first landed at the shelter, he kept his guard up around strangers and other dogs. Foster care brought out a different side—he’s gone from nervous to noticeably more confident, thanks in part to positive reinforcement training. He’s tuned in on walks, works hard on leash skills, and has learned to focus even when the world’s busy around him. At home, Eddie lives with a calm female Boxer mix, and they get along well. He’s coexisting with a cat but will chase if the cat runs; Eddie’s ideal placement is either cat-free or with a savvy cat that won’t bolt. Fetch is his obsession—come armed with a ball and you’ll make quick progress winning him over. Women tend to earn his trust a little faster, but what Eddie really wants is patience and consistency. Once he trusts someone, his loyalty runs deep. He does fine walking by kids, men, and dogs in busy spots sans reactivity, and tolerates nail trims—especially if cheese is on offer. Like most shepherd mixes, he occasionally explodes into frantic sprints, so a fenced yard where he can burn energy and chase balls is important. Eddie is housebroken and can be left loose at home if the trash is locked up. Kennels aren’t his thing, but load him into the car and he’s eager for adventure. Eddie needs an experienced adopter who can keep training positive, patient, and low-key. In return: a couch buddy, fetch partner, and fiercely loyal friend who’ll have your back. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
