About Poppy
Meet Poppy, a black and white Lab mix with five years under her belt and an easy charm that wins over just about everyone. Poppy’s snowy chest, white paws, and perky black ears aren’t just cute—they mark her out in any crowd, especially with a wag and a on-the-nose cuddle request. At about 65 pounds, she’s substantial enough to keep your feet warm but gentle enough to relax beside a baby without a fuss. Other dogs—especially little ones—bring out her playful side and she’ll lean right in for a game or a snuggle. She gets a bit excitable spotting new friends on walks and can get curious with cats and squirrels, sometimes pulling on the leash when they’re around. Her interest seems more playful than anything else. She’s already mastered sit and paw, does well in a crate, and loves working for treats—training is more a game for her than a chore. Play fetch in the yard and she’ll light up, then wind down carrying shoes back to her bed or launching into spy-movie zoomies. At home, she’s calm and patient, happy to sleep or gaze out the window between regular potty breaks. She fits best with people who are around most of the day or in a home with a dog door, and she’s perfectly content to sleep near you or in her bed at night. Poppy is currently in a Houston foster but ready to travel to her new family in Mooresville, NC. She’s a classic Leo—full of heart, charm, and energy when it counts. Your new best friend is just one click away.
