Basil
AvailableBasil is a black and cream mixed breed dog with a short coat, believed to be a blend of Black Labrador Retriever and Chihuahua. He is currently being cared for at Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary, and he does have some special needs that will benefit from an experienced and patient adopter.
About Basil
Let’s make it official, apply to adopt! Basil is a sweet boy with a shy and timid nature who needs a family experienced with helping shy dogs grow in confidence. He can be hesitant around new people but, with patience, reveals a loving and goofy personality. Basil enjoys running around and playing tug with his brother Sesame, sits politely for treats, and delights in squeaker toys, chew bones, and yogurt-filled kongs. He’s seeking a home where a dedicated person will help him open up and let his playful spirit shine. Once comfortable, Basil’s affectionate side comes through and he becomes a devoted companion who will happily join his new family’s daily fun. He’s up to date on vaccines, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative, all ready to begin his next adventure. Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!

Questions about Basil
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
A Black Labrador Retriever/Chihuahua mix can adapt to various environments, but they benefit from a quiet, patient home that allows them to acclimate at their own pace. A secure, calm household helps them feel safe and become more social over time.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
This mix will enjoy having a yard to play in but can also thrive with daily walks and regular playtime if outside space is limited. They benefit from supervised outdoor activities to burn off energy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
With proper introductions and patience, these mixes can do well with respectful, older children who understand shy dogs. Calm and gentle interaction is key for a positive relationship.
