Basil
AvailableBasil is a black and white/cream mixed breed with Black Labrador Retriever and Chihuahua in him, living in Salisbury, NC. He’s an adult male, and his short coat gives him a classic, easy-care look. Basil isn’t yet house trained, but he is neutered and up-to-date on all vaccinations. He has special needs and will do best with someone who has experience with shy or timid dogs.
About Basil
Basil is a sweet, shy boy searching for the right family who understands how to support a timid dog. While strangers and new situations put him on guard, he has a soft side that emerges when he feels safe, turning into a goofy, affectionate companion. Once he relaxes, he enjoys running and playing tug with his brother Sesame, and shows off his good manners for treats. Basil keeps busy with squeaker toys, bones, and he has a weakness for yogurt-filled kongs. He’ll thrive in a calm home with experienced handlers willing to put in the time to build his confidence. Someone patient who can help him come out of his shell will discover a wonderful, playful spirit. Basil gets along with other dogs and would love the chance to show someone the friend he can be. With influences from both Black Labrador Retriever and Chihuahua, Basil will benefit from daily walks and playtime in a fenced yard or other safe area. He doesn't require a massive yard, but regular opportunities to stretch his legs matter.
