About Bring Dennis Home. The
Dennis started out in Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield, but his real story began once he got his second shot at life. He's got a big heart, a ton of love, and a strong personality that makes him hard to forget. Dennis is a friendly, whip-smart dog who thrives around people. He lives for walks with his foster siblings and absolutely lights up for car rides—those are non-negotiable in his world. He’s a dog who picks his person and gives them everything. Cuddles? All in. Toys and treats? Never enough. Dennis already knows commands like sit, wait, leave it, enough, and back-up. He’s nearly figured out paw, too. He enjoys puzzle toys, snuffle mats, and plenty of time outdoors. Dennis needs a semi-active family ready to commit to steady, thoughtful exercise—especially for his back leg, which he’s working on strengthening after a previously healed pelvic injury. Routine, consistent movement works best. Two orthopedic surgeons have said no surgery is needed; now it’s just about keeping him comfortable and strong. He does best when crated if left alone, thanks to his curious, occasionally mischievous streak. A bit dramatic? Sure, but who isn’t? If you want a loyal, affectionate, sharp dog with a dash of flair, Dennis is a standout. He’s ready to join a home that sees him for everything he is. Ready to fall in love?
