About Poppy
Poppy is a 3-year-old brindle beauty with big, expressive ears and a huge heart. Her journey began on the busy streets of Houston, where she was found alone with no shelter or food and landed in an overcrowded shelter. Thanks to a foster, she got a second chance and has been waiting over a year for her forever home. Poppy loves people and greets everyone like an old friend. She currently lives in an apartment with another dog and does great, resting quietly in her kennel when her foster dad is away. House-trained and not destructive, she's an easy companion inside the home. Poppy is all about staying active—she loves walks, runs, trips to the dog park, and making friends. She’s good with other dogs and has done well with children, though her high energy makes her best suited for homes with older kids (around 12+). Car rides are a breeze with her, and she’s always ready for some fun. Health-wise, she's spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and kept up-to-date on heartworm and flea/tick prevention, with a health certificate ready for transport. Poppy is in Texas and can be transported out of state. She’s affectionate, playful, and more than ready for family snuggles, tail wags, and her own place to call home. Make her part of your story. Questions about Poppy
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
American Staffordshire Terrier/Hound mixes like Poppy often do well in active homes that can give them plenty of daily exercise and attention. A home with access to outdoor activities is ideal.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Poppy and her breed mix thrive with regular walks and room to play, but she has adapted well to apartment living as long as she gets plenty of outings. She would enjoy a yard but it's not strictly necessary.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Poppy's breed mix tends to do well with children who are respectful and older, especially given her energy level. She currently does well with children but is best matched to households with kids 12 and up.
