About Smokey

Smokey’s story almost ended much too soon. He arrived at the barn doors barely able to move, the result of severe pelvic fractures, and his outlook was bleak—he landed on a euthanasia list at the shelter. Even then, something in his quiet determination made a few people take a chance on him. Fast forward five months—Smokey’s completely turned things around. With steady care from his foster mom, Rhonda, he bounced back. He’s now cleared for adoption, dashing through backyards, enjoying walks, curling up on the couch, and rediscovering what it means to be a dog. His daily life includes hanging out with a small dog pack, a friendly cat, and a teenager who thinks the world of him. Rhonda’s guidance has helped him blossom into a loving, happy companion. Smokey is resilient, and while his hips are stable now, his adopter should be prepared for the possibility of future orthopedic care. He deserves a family willing to look out for him long-term, just in case. If you’re looking for a tough little terrier mix with a sweet, scruffy face, and you won’t mind that he might need some extra care down the road, Smokey could be a perfect fit. His grit and joy are easy to see. All that’s missing is a home to call his own. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
