About Phil

Phil is a large pit bull terrier mix with endless goofy charm. Originally adopted out as a puppy, he landed back in a shelter a year later when his owners gave him up—but he bounced back fast and is thriving now. Phil’s outlook remains bright and affectionate; kneeling down guarantees a flurry of kisses and snuggles from this sweet, happy boy. He knows the basics—sit, shake, down, and even 'easy,' with 'stay' coming along. He walks well on a martingale and generally handles walks decently on a flat collar, too. Phil absolutely loves kids and does well with an infant in his foster home. With toddlers, he’s tested well, though a home with older children who understand boundaries suits him best at first. Phil isn’t a fit for homes with cats or small animals. He's happiest with high-energy dog companions and takes corrections from dogs well. Phil enjoys mental challenges as much as—or more than—long walks and needs a yard to burn off steam; a single-family setup is best. Though his manners needed some work, he’s made great progress with consistent structure. He’s crate trained, house trained, and available as a foster-to-adopt with a reduced fee. Phil is in Newport, KY and ready for his next chapter. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
