About Juno
Juno is a 6-month-old male akita with a striking red and sable coat and a medium-length fur that’s already turning heads. Akitas are renowned for being loyal and smart, but they can be independent and headstrong, especially as youngsters. Juno’s still just a puppy, tipping the scales at over 40 pounds and destined to grow to 80 pounds or more. He needs an adopter who’s owned dogs before—and ideally someone who knows akitas—since he’ll benefit from solid boundaries and plenty of patient obedience training. He’s not house trained yet, so expect to put some work in as he learns the ropes. Juno is waiting in Columbia, MD, ready for someone who can channel his energy and intelligence into good habits. Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!

Questions about Juno
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Juno, as an akita, is best suited for a home with lots of space and a secure yard—apartments can be too confining for such a large, energetic breed. Akitas thrive in homes where they can be close to their family and have clear boundaries.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Given Juno's akita heritage, he will need access to a good amount of outdoor space, ideally a fenced yard where he can run and play safely. Daily exercise is a must to keep him healthy and happy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Akitas like Juno can do well with older, respectful children when properly socialized and supervised. Because they are strong and sometimes aloof, families with small children should use extra caution and supervision.
