Pip
AvailablePip is a young, neutered male Maltese with a lovely white and cream coat living in Austin, TX. At just over a year old, he is house trained and vaccinated, making him a good fit for someone ready for a gentle, newly-starting dog. While he’s still healing both physically and emotionally, his small size and sweet temperament make him worth the extra patience.
About Pip
Pip has already weathered more than most youngsters his age, and now he’s searching for a foster spot that feels steady and gentle—a place to catch his breath. At just over a year old, this Maltese is discovering what care looks like for the first time. He came into the shelter with serious matting and an injury to his left front leg—a wound and a fracture—but he’s quietly on the mend. Pip isn’t picky when it comes to mealtime, either; chicken and rice bring him comfort, and he spends plenty of time resting as he heals. He’s still very sensitive to handling and the world seems huge and overwhelming right now. Pip hasn’t had much exposure to people or typical dog experiences, and he reacts out of a need to protect himself. What he really needs is patience, a quiet home, and someone who understands that he may take things at his own pace. Busy places or playgroups aren’t right for him at the moment—what he craves is somewhere calm where he can simply exist and recover. Even so, you can see sparks of resilience in him. With slow, thoughtful care, Pip’s got every chance to become a devoted companion who finally feels safe. Start your journey together! Apply now.
