Vanessa
AvailableVanessa is a mixed-breed Vizsla who’s spent much of her adult life as a stray in Wappingers Falls, NY. She’s a medium-sized, spayed female who is not yet house trained. Vanessa is vaccinated and has recently overcome severe ear infections, but her ears will require routine care to stay healthy.
About Vanessa
Vanessa spent years fending for herself on the streets, dealing with hunger, danger, and constant threats from both people and the environment. The toll was real—when she arrived in rescue her ears were in rough shape, swollen from infections and marked by old injuries. After weeks of care, Vanessa is finally infection free, but her ears will need regular attention in the future to prevent flare-ups. Most of her estimated four years were likely spent as a stray, so she’s still learning the comforts of home. Soft beds, a couch, steady meals, and plenty of toys are new to her, and she enjoys them all. Still, old instincts linger; if a door opens, Vanessa’s first move is often to dart. She’ll need an adopter willing to be especially careful with exits until she settles in. Despite her rough start, Vanessa has a huge heart—she gets along great with other dogs, respects cats, and is happiest around people. Though she’s making progress with house training, she isn’t fully there yet, but her food motivation and gentle nature should help her along. Vanessa’s outgoing personality and eagerness to connect stand out. She missed out on a safe start, but she’s ready for that second chance. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
