Todd is a baby male Coonhound who will grow to be a medium-sized dog. He is waiting in West Des Moines, IA for his forever home. Todd is scheduled to be neutered and is happiest in a setting with other dogs and children. His breed background suggests he’ll need plenty of exercise and activity.

About Todd

Todd isn’t available for adoption outside a 30-minute radius of Des Moines due to his remaining vetting needs, including a scheduled neuter in July 2026. Rescued from Oklahoma with his siblings after surviving parvovirus, Todd has already proven to be a survivor with a resilient spirit. His mother is an American English Coonhound, so he’s expected to be a medium-sized dog, agile, with signature long ears, a sleek short coat, and a nose made for sniffing out adventure. These hounds are athletic, loyal pack dogs that thrive with active, involved people. Todd is the middle pup in his litter, a little more reserved than his brother and sister but always the first to greet new folks. He takes his time trying new things and prefers to follow his littermates’ lead, but he doesn’t hesitate to join in playful antics or settle into a good cuddle after a round of free play. Like most hounds, he can be stubborn about training, and he’s particularly vocal about his feelings when left in a crate. Todd loves other dogs and would benefit from canine companionship and a home with a spacious, securely fenced yard. Given the breed’s prey drive, a cat-free home is best, and he’ll do best with daily exercise, plenty of activity, and patient humans who help him grow. Todd is also known for getting along with children and other dogs. Think you are the one? Submit an application!
