About Mario

Mario is a 6-month-old Australian Shepherd mix who’s been settling in with a couple of dogs—especially a Beagle that’s become his best buddy. He’d thrive in a home with another dog for companionship. Mario spent a short time in a home with two small children, but the noise and unpredictability made him anxious, so he’s best suited for families with older kids, ideally 8 and up, who can approach him calmly. He’s still meeting kids to help him feel more comfortable and less anxious around them. Mario’s been actively working with a trainer a few days a week to get more comfortable in new places and with new sounds. He’s picking up basic commands and getting better on the leash. Despite his active side, he settles down for snuggles after a busy day. He’s looking for an active family—preferably with a dog friend—who wants a loving, sensitive companion.
